Evil tongues accused Cathars and Waldensians of the heresy of worshipping cats, and if it was true, they were most definitely correct in their choice of the object of revere. No living thing suits this function better in our eschatological age as these, in the words of Burroughs, pure and practical creatures who don't offer services but offer themselves, whose rage is beautiful, burning with pure cat flame, whose hate reflects an ugly, stupid, loutish, bigoted spirit, and with this Ugly Spirit there could be no compromise, whose origins were that of the psychic companions, as Familiars, that had never deviated from this function.
